Isle of Cumbrae...
Things to do on Cumbrae:

The Isle of Cumbrae is known as ‘Scotland’s Most Accessible Island’ at only an 8-minute ferry ride over from Largs which is only 1-hour from Glasgow, it truly is ‘Island time in no time’. Millport is the only town on the island which lies just offshore from Largs on the Ayrshire coast. The town curves around an attractive hilly bay on the south coast. The sandy bay is lined by a pretty seafront promenade, perfect for gentle seaside strolls. Millport is a quirky seaside destination with a wealth of things to do that are brilliant for all ages.
cycle 11 miles around island

Cumbrae is often referred to as a ‘cyclist’s paradise', and for good reason too! It is one big 10-mile loop around the outer circle shore road. Whilst cycling you are able to enjoy exceptional sea views across to the Isles of Bute, Arran, and beyond to Ailsa Craig. Bikes are free to take over on the ferry or if you prefer you can hire a wide range of bikes to suit everyone from any of the three bike hire stores based on the island.

A must for any keen golfer is a visit to Millport Golf Club, a heathland golf course situated above the town at the highest point on the island, founded in 1888 making it one of the oldest established courses on the Firth of Clyde. The 18-hole course commands one of the most dramatic vistas in Scottish golf. Panoramic views over the Firth include Ailsa Craig, the Isle of Bute, the Cowal Peninsula and Arran. Looking across to Arran provides a spectacular view of Goat Fell and The Sleeping Warrior.

Smallest cathedral in the UK

The town possesses Britain’s smallest cathedral, the Cathedral of the Isles, which was completed in 1851 to a design by William Butterfield, one of the leading Gothic Revival architects of the day. Most days the Cathedral is open to visitors. It is a beutiful place for peaceful reflection and well worth a visit.

The island is a great spot for shore angling, there are many great places to fish from and you'd be amazed at the variety of species it holds. Local fishermen often catch Cod and Mackerel.  Daily permits are available to purchase for fly fishing for rainbow trout on the two reservoirs adjacent to Millport Golf Club.
